Coins of America’s Take on the Recent Presidential $1 Coin News
By CoinsofAmerica
Coins of America has enjoyed being a provider of the Presidential $1 Coins to collectors since 2007. Whether you’re looking for P & D mint collections, single dollar coins, or dollar coin rolls, Coins of America has the dollar coin product you’re looking for.
Since Tuesday’s statement by Vice President Biden regarding production of the Presidential $1 Coin, many customers have wondered what will happen. Here are a few of the things we continue to hear.
1. I’ve heard that the U.S. Mint will stop ALL production of the Presidential $1 Coins. Is that true? According to the statement made by Vice President Biden, production will continue; however, it will be significantly reduced.
2. My bank has indicated that they will no longer carry the Presidential $1 Coins. So where can I get them starting in 2012? Coins of America has access to vendors, suppliers and other channels that will place us in an excellent position for acquiring the 2012 Presidential $1 Coins.
3. Can I order the Presidential $1 Coins today? Yes, you can place order reservations for the 2012 Presidential dollars starting today. Coins of America will then call or email you as soon as products are available from the U.S. Mint.
At Coins of America we continue to remain optimistic regarding the Presidential Dollar Coin Program. When a coin becomes more scarce, demand and value increase. For collectors, this is great news.
So what do you think? Do you think the current Administration made the right choice? Share your thoughts.

This is the sort of hype that politicians continue to leverage as cost-saving sound bytes and those who know better have no forum to present the facts. This move may be great for collectors –making their items more rare but if we look at taxpayer benefits it is a ridiculous decision. The way it was presented was naive, irresponsible and misleading.

I think the government should stop prduction on the $1 bill not reduce the production of the dollar coin as that bill costs more to make and doesn’t last more that a few years. Think about using the $1 coins in everyday use as that would benefit all of us in the long run and reduce the deficit that we hear about often.

I’m so glad I can still get my Presidential dollar sets from Coins of America. I don’t understand the government sometimes. Get rid of the paper dollar. It doesn’t last and it’s smelly and full of germs. I’m looking forward to finishing my collection of the dollar sets.

Since this announcement I’m realizing that this might be the best time for me to start collecting dollar coins. I’m considering purchasing the President and First Lady Deluxe Gift Pack from Coins of America. It’s affordable and comes with a collector box that will protect the dollars for years to come!

Dollar bills are sooooooooo much easier to use and carry. I would even say eliminate pennies, nickels and the dollar coin.

My naughty lists includes the Us Vice President, traveling all of the World I am amazed how behind the times the US continues to be with actions like this! Coins last longer, transmit less germs, and our the norm at this low of a denomination in the rest of the World! Someone should look at the paper companies relations to congress because the math does not add up! Dollar coins would save over 550 BILLION in 10 years and many companies like vending machines and transit carriers have all ready invested to accept the coins.

Seriously people — How many paper dollars do you really carry in your wallet or billfold? Normally only a few. It seems to me 5 would be a lot for the average person. Carrying 5 dollar coins is going to weight you down? Doubtful. I disagree with Soup — coins are much easier to sort through and distinguish. You don’t have to mess with pulling your whole wallet out — you can just keep them in your pocket!
The Mint has done a disservice by not making a wholehearted effort to get these into cirulation and get Americans on board!

I always buy $100 of the presidential and Native American dollars when they come out and I spend them everywhere especiall for tips. So far not one person has complained. As a matter of fact they love getting them. Typical government in action. Do just the opposite of the right thing.
Only problem now is paying 2-3-4 or 5 times face value to get a new one – IF – they continue making smaller batches. Or 10 time more from private companys.

George Wildridge says:
The cost of making the dollar coins is miniscule compared to their face value. In addition the sale of these coins at face value has to be a money maker for the government… more so than bonds which have to be redeemed. Most of the coins are probably never put into general circulation. If a collector keeps the coins the government is paid for producing an item that should be extremely profitable to them.
